Southwest Airlines Traffic Keeps Up Strong 2018

It’s been a strong 2018 for Southwest Airlines, and the low-cost carrier continues to post solid traffic numbers.

Last month, Southwest reported 11.3 billion revenue passenger miles, a 4.9 percent increase compared to November 2017, according to the latest data from the company.

Available seat miles rose by 6.5 percent to just under 13.4 billion miles, while load factor saw a 1.3-percentage-point drop to 84.5 percent .

For the year to date, Southwest traffic is up 3.3 percent to a total of 122.2 billion revenue passenger miles, while available seat miles are up to 146.2 billion, an increase of 3.8 percent.

Southwest has continued its Caribbean expansion in 2018, adding new flights to a host of destinations including Punta Cana and the Cayman Islands.
