The first new all-inclusive to open in Puerto Rico in years has made its debut in the town of Humacao.

The transformed Candelero Beach Resort is set in the heart of the Palmas del Mar golf community, opening its doors after a $3 million renovation project.

Developed by the Suarez family, which owns the Palms Hill Partners development firm, it’s a boutique hotel with all-inclusive convenience.

“We are extremely excited about this new adventure; the renovation of the hotel has been a very challenging and rewarding project that has involved the entire family. We are committed to this property,” said Maria Suarez, owner of the hotel. “Candelero Beach Resort brings a refreshed air to the community of Palmas del Mar.”

The transformation added a new swimming pool, a new food and bar area, a new lobby and a coffee shop by local brand Gusto’s.

That’s along with a new ceviche bar and a sculpture by renowned local designer Javier Olmeda Raya.

There are a total of 107 rooms, with five restaurants and plans to raise that number to eight by the spring of 2019.

And yes, the golf is a major component, with two courses in Palmas del Mar: one designed by global golf legend Gary Player, and another by design legend Rees Jones.

The Candelero is about one hour from San Juan’s airport.
