While much of Puerto Rico’s tourism industry is, unsurprisingly, concentrated in San Juan, the island is starting to see smaller, harder-to-reach destinations growing, too.

That includes the southwestern beach town of Cabo Rojo, which is now home to a new place to stay: the Boho Beach Club.

The new 61-room hotel has opened its doors after an investment of $4.5 million, according to officials from the Puerto Rico Tourism Company.

“It is gratifying to note that, in keeping with the objective of the CTPR, to improve the offer and expand it throughout the Island, Puerto Rican entrepreneurs are showing an enthusiastic awakening in the tourism industry, as members of the Boho Beach Club Group are doing with the establishment of the first boutique hotel in the Cabo Rojo area,” said Carla Campos, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company. “This, undoubtedly, expands the offer in an innovative way in that region that enjoys excellent demand.”

The hotel represents the transformation of a former hostel into a chic beach hotel, with 61 well-appointed rooms along with an on-site eatery and a “brunch all day” menu concept.
