The government of The Bahamas is planning $3 million in immediate repairs and renovations to the Grand Lucayan resort complex in Grand Bahama.

The government purchased the resort, much of which remains shuttered, earlier this year.

The $3 million will include immediate repairs to the convention center, the Breaker’s Cay roof and Central Air Conditioning System at the resort, along with the still-operating Lighthouse Pointe resort, according to Senator Kwasi Thompson, Minister of State for Grand Bahama.

There will also be work on cosmetic renovations to the retail area and the exterior of the casino.

“We expect the process to begin before the end of the year,” Thompson said.
