The leading all-inclusive resort in St Maarten is set for a major reopening.

The adults-only Sonesta Ocean Point resort is planning to reopen its doors on Dec. 15, according to the property.

The property, which first opened its doors in 2015, had been the hottest all-inclusive in St Maarten until shuttering in the wake of Hurricane Irma last year.

Yes, the swim-up suites are back.

The reinvigorated property will feature 130 rooms, all of which will be suites, along with three pools, four bars and a spectacular cliffside eatery called Azul.

That’s along with amenities like 24-hour room service, wellness treatments and, for upper-level suites, butler service.

And the relaunched resort will include a host of changes, including a new Spanish tapas eatery called Casa Blue, along with a completely rebuilt meeting and convention space.

The reimagined gym.

Casa Blue will be located on the rooftop terrace above the Azul restaurant.

The latter was one of the hallmarks of the Ocean Point, and will mean updates for all 24,000 square feet of event space at the resort.

The relaunch is being billed as “stronger and brand new,” with a “fresh contemporary look” and a focus on resilient, weather-resistant construction.

The nearby Maho Village is also getting a facelift, with two new alfresco eateries, a new outdoor bar and lounge and a revamped 21,000-square-foot Casino Royale that has already held its soft opening.

The Ocean Point’s adjacent sister property, the Sonesta Maho Resort, is slated to reopen on Feb. 1, 2019.

The relaunch of the Ocean Point will be another boost for the twin-country destination, which heated up earlier this month with the reopening of the Grand Case Beach Club on the French side.
