Jamaica, like many Caribbean destinations, has long talked about courting more tourism from Latin America.

Now, it’s about to get a lot of help in that regard.

Leading Latin American carrier LATAM Airlines Group has announced plans to launch new flights from its hub in Lima, Peru to Montego Bay, Jamaica.

LATAM will be operating three weekly flights to Montego Bay, meaning easy connections for travelers from countries like Peru, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay.

LATAM will be operating the route on Airbus A320 aircraft with 174 seats, meaning about 52,600 seats per year to Jamaica.

The new route will officially launch July 1.

“The addition of the Montego Bay – Lima route is part of our commitment to facilitate leisure travel options to our consumers. Montego bay is now the fifth city we fly to in the Caribbean, others being Aruba, Cancun, La Habana and Punta Cana adding to more than 50 weekly LATAM frequencies to the Caribbean.” said Pablo Chiozza, Senior VP of the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Asia of LATAM Airlines Group.
