Dominica’s impressive tourism recovery has extended to its hotel sector, according to a media briefing on the heels of the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s State of the Industry Conference in Nassau this week.

Out of 962 rooms on the island, 484 are now available, according to Director of Tourism Colin Piper.

That represents about 57 percent of the total as of this summer.

That includes the Fort Young hotel, which has partially reopened as its works to complete a significant transformation project, along with the luxe boutique the Pagua Bay House, among others.

And then there is the wave of new hotel development coming to Dominica, from the soon-to-debut Kempinski (slated to open its doors in 2019) to the new Anichi to the reimagined Jungle Bay.

In the interim, the Fort Young has become the de facto hub of the island’s tourism sector.
