More and more Jamaica vacations are being booked on mobile devices, according to a new report from global travel giant Expedia Group.

Jamaica saw a spike in mobile demand from January to June of 2018, according to a new report from the company.

That was led by Negril, which saw 20 percent growth in mobile demand from United States-based travelers, followed by Kingston and Ocho Rios, each of which posted 10 percent growth in mobile demand in the period.

It’s an important indicator for what is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the wider Caribbean region.

And it’s a regional trend, according to Expedia, with mobile demand surging in the Caribbean from the region’s largest tourism source markets, led by 90 percent year-over-year mobile demand growth from the United States.

The numbers were released during Jamaica’s JAPEX product exchange conference, which brings together buyers and suppliers in the Jamaican travel market.

JAPEX allows us to meet with our valued Jamaican lodging partners one-on-one, discuss the latest data reports we’ve gathered for Jamaica and what’s in store for the future in terms of trends, new technology and new strategies,” said Nuno Sales da Ponte, Director for Market Management in the Caribbean, Expedia Group, in a statement provided to Caribbean Journal.
