Disney Cruise Line is coming to Louisiana.

For the first time, one of the cruise brand’s ships will homeport at the Port of New Orleans.

In 2020, the 2,400-passenger Disney Wonder cruise ship will launch a range of both Caribbean and Bahamas cruises out of the city.

“Not only will this provide families from the region with the magic of having a Disney ship in their own backyard, but it will also draw families from farther away to discover this incredible city before they set sail,” the cruise line said in a statement.

That will include six cruises: four, six and seven-night Western Caribbean cruises; a seven-night Bahamian cruise and a 14-night cruise to the Panama Canal.

“We are thrilled Disney Cruise Line has chosen the Port of New Orleans as a homeport for their distinctive cruise experience,” said Brandy Christian, Port NOLA President and CEO. “With Port NOLA’s commitment to high-level service and the Crescent City’s many attractions, we are confident that Disney travelers will enjoy the excitement and convenience of launching their vacation from our unique city. We are also proud to bring the iconic cruise home to Louisiana Disney fans.”

Disney Wonder will also be sailing to San Juan, Puerto Rico for a limited time, with two seven-night voyages in January 2020 sailing out of San Juan, the company said.
