St Croix’s only all-inclusive resort is planning a relaunch next summer, Caribbean Journal has learned.

St Croix’s Divi Carina Bay All-Inclusive Beach Resort and Casino, which has been closed since last year’s storms, is planning to reopen in the summer of 2019.

The resort’s casino has already reopened.

“We’re thrilled that the casino had a successful ribbon cutting and ceremony, and is now open to the public. Plus, we’re looking forward to showcasing our exciting plans for the new Divi Carina Bay, which will be renovated with a ‘Caribbean Chic’ look and feel and will feature plenty of brand new amenities,” said Marco Galaverna, Divi Resorts President & COO. “We can’t wait to show our guests the amazing new changes and upgrades when we reopen in 2019.”

The property is currently undergoing a complete renovation, with new amenities planned including a new entrance and lobby area with a large bar; a TV lounge and gaming area; a renovated pool area with cabanas; a new water sports center, beach palapas and loungers and completely updated rooms and villas.

The casino is also getting an upgrade, with new light-night dining options and a nightclub-style entertainment offering.

“Once we are finished with renovations, this real-life tropical paradise will have you reconnecting with nature, shopping till you drop, visiting historic landmarks and taking in all of the beautiful scenery the island offers,” added Galaverna. “Plus, St. Croix is part of the US Virgin Islands, so US citizens can travel to the island without a passport!”

Its return will be a boon for an island that has already made an admirable recovery from the hurricanes, one that is particularly visible in destinations like Christiansted and Frederiskted.
