By the Caribbean Journal staff

Cruise line Holland America Line will be sailing more than 100 cruises to the Caribbean from October through April 2019, the company said this week.

The cruises range from three to 21-day itineraries, across eight ships including the company’s newest ship, Nieuw Statendam. (The latter will begin sailing in December)

That will include seven ships sailing roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale, along with the Rotterdam ship taking over roundtrip sailings from Tampa.

Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas.

Holland America’s Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Oosterdam, Rotterdam, Veendam and Zuiderdam will sail the brand’s Caribbean voyages.

Holland America’s Veendam ship will also begin a series of “Cuban Explorer” sailings, with a range of seven to 12-day itineraries that will stop in Cuban ports including Havana and Cienfuegos.

“The Caribbean continues to be a highly popular destination for both first-time cruisers and repeaters because it offers everything: beautiful scenery, tropical weather, diverse activities, a laid-back atmosphere and welcoming locals who are eager to share their customs and culture,” said Orlando Ashford, president of Holland America Line. “By offering more than 100 sailings across eight mid-sized ships, including Nieuw Statendam, we’re giving our guests more opportunities to tailor a cruise to their desires.”
