Guyana’s Cheddi Jagan International Airport is getting closer to officially unveiling its highly-anticipated new arrivals terminal.

The new terminal at Cheddi Jagan is slated to be completed in December, according to a government statement.

Airport is currently running tests to ensure that the new terminal’s passenger handling and service conditions are acceptable, according to Guyana Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson.

Patterson said he was “quite pleased” with the operations of the new terminal thus far following a visit at the airport.

“It was very efficient,” he said.

The new, modern terminal is expected to reduce immigration processing time as well.

While Guyana is not a major destination, the Caribbean country has been making a push to court more tourists, particularly those drawn to its remarkable natural beauty and eco-tourism offerings.
