United Airlines is launching more new flights to Mexico, the company announced this week.

United will be launching a new flight between Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Mazatlan beginning Jan. 9, 2019.

The flights, which will through March 30, 2019, will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays on Embraer ERJ-175 aircraft.

We are very excited to have United Airlines again offering nonstop service from Houston, TX, to Mazatlán,” said Marco Garcia Castro, Secretary of Tourism for the State of Sinaloa. “This seasonal route will provide visitors to Mazatlán more choice and convenience to travel to our great destination especially considering Houston is a major hub for connections from other United gateways.”

The resort town of Mazatlan, which was founded in 1571, has seen growth in tourism recent years, led by the development of the Nuevo Mazatlan area, now home to two marinas and two professional golf courses.

It styles itself as the only beachfront colonial town in Mexico.

United has been ramping up service from Houston of late, resuming its flights from Houston to St Thomas and adding new service from Houston to Havana, Cuba.
