Hotels in Curaçao are having a strong year, according to the latest numbers from STR and the Curacao Hotel and Tourism Association.

The Dutch Caribbean island’s hotel occupancy was 75.6 percent in June, up 12.8 percentage points from its 62.8 percent number in June of 2017.

Average daily rates rose from $122.90 to $144.58, while revenue per available room rose by 41.5 percent, from $77.21 to $109.27.

“As can be seen, there was a significant increase in hotel performance compared to 2017,” the association said in a statement.

That’s been the trend for much of 2018, as the island has significantly outperformed the wider Caribbean region in the period.

Indeed, regional occupancy rose by just 0.1 percent in June, while average daily rates in the Caribbean rose by 3.2 percent.
