By the Caribbean Journal staff

Tropic Ocean Airways, which runs a fleet of seaplanes operating scheduled and charter flights across The Bahamas, is expanding.

The company has announced plans to increase its operations at the Miami Seaplane Base on Watson Island, highlighted by the delivery of four new Cessna Grand Caravan EX seaplanes.

“Throughout Miami’s storied history, seaplane travel has been an integral part of the fabric of the city’s allure and international presence.  As we celebrate the centennial of the Miami Seaplane Base we are excited to reintroduce seaplane travel to the great city of Miami, providing locals and visitors with even more options for convenient air travel within Florida and to/from the islands of the Bahamas,” said Tropic Ocean Airways CEO Rob Ceravolo.

As part of the push, Tropic will be expanding its scheduled service to destinations including Bimini, Marsh Harbour, Nassau and other destinations soon to be announced, according to the company.

Tropic Ocean Airways already offers weekly scheduled service from South Florida to Bimini, Great Harbour Cay in the Berry Islands and Marsh Harbour with a fleet of 11 planes.
