Costa Rica’s Gilded Iguana Hotel Reopens

By the Caribbean Journal staff

One of Costa Rica’s top surf hotels has reopened following a major renovation.

The newly-transformed Gilded Iguana has relaunched in the town of Nosara after a year of upgrade projects.

The redesign of the Gilded Iguana, which first opened its doors in 1973, was carried out by internationally renowned architect Benjamin Garcia Saxe.

The Gilded Iguana includes 29 rooms, including a “Surfer Suite” for large groups, with the renovation having added a new kids pool, a new pool bar and even a property-wide organic bug repellent system.

The centerpiece of the project was the addition of a major new pool.

Each of the rooms at the hotel include high-speed Wi-Fi, surfboard storage and outdoor showers.
