Simpson Bay Resort to Reopen in St Maarten

Another popular St Maarten resort is making a comeback.

The Simpson Bay Resort, set on the island’s most famous marina, is planning a relaunch in March.

The property, which includes a mix of 336 suites and 83 two-bedroom villas, had been closed in the wake of Hurricane Irma last fall.

While it has been operational for several months, the property has been urging guests to wait to vacation on the island until March 3, given the need for a recovery in tourism infrastructure on the island, according to a statement on the hotel’s Web site.

Simpson Bay will rejoin several hotels, including St Maarten’s Princess Heights, that have already reopened their doors.

Several others will reopen this year, including the Divi Little Bay and the beloved Grand Case Beach Club, the latter of which is slated to make its return in October.

The reopening times well with the much-anticipated return of the St Maarten Heineken Regatta, which will be held  March 2-4.
