In a big boost for St Martin, Sunsail and The Moorings, have reopened yacht operations on the island, four months after hurricanes struck the Caribbean, and just in time for the sold-out Heineken Regatta.

The brands’ new charter base location is at Marina Fort-Louis, which will house a diverse fleet of monohulls, sailing catamarans and powerboats from the island’s French capital in Marigot.

New yachts are also expected to arrive to the island in 2018, as part of a $66.5 million investment in the Caribbean fleet for The Moorings and Sunsail last year.

Just a short 20-minute commute from Princess Juliana International Airport, Marina Fort-Louis is fully-equipped with amenities including water, electricity, fuel, WiFi, provisioning, shower and laundry facilities.

The new Marigot Bay location also offers convenient access to shops and restaurants along the waterfront, including O’Plongeoir, a famous seafood establishment.

Throughout the cruising grounds, there are some sites still recovering from Hurricane Irma, but plenty to do and see in St. Martin remains.

“Nothing could have prepared us for the devastation that September’s hurricanes brought to St. Martin but we couldn’t be more thrilled to invite charterers back to one of our most popular destinations, and from a brand new base location in a world-class marina,” said Josie Tucci, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
