American Airlines is expanding its service to the island of St Croix in the US Virgin Islands.

The carrier has confirmed the return of its second daily flight between Miami and St Croix, according to US Virgin Islands Commissioner of Tourism Beverly Nicholson-Doty.

The expanded daily service will officially launch on Dec. 15.

“As the Christmas holiday season draws near, travelers will have two options each day for flights, instead of the once-daily flight now available,” Nicholson-Doty said in a statement.

It’s a big boost for the island, whose tourism industry has been making strong progress in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
