It’s getting even easier to reach the French Caribbean island of Martinique.

American Airlines will be increasing its flights between Miami and Martinique’s Aime Cesaire International Airport this season.

American will be raising its total of weekly flights to five, Caribbean Journal has learned.

That comes after low-cost European carrier Norwegian launched a new wave of nonstop flights to the island, from US cities including Providence, Rhodes Island and Fort Lauderdale.

Norwegian also offers flights to the island from New York’s John F Kennedy Airport.

And travelers in Atlanta can now reach Martinique on Air France with an initial stop in Guadeloupe.

The island has increasingly been on the radar of in-the-know Caribbean travelers, with a fast-growing offering that includes up-and-coming beach towns like Le Diamant.
