Turks and Caicos’ Sailrock to Reopen in December

By the Caribbean Journal staff

The Turks and Caicos’ Sailrock Resort is planning to reopen in December after suffering damage from this fall’s hurricanes.

The South Caicos resort, which first opened at the beginning of the year, will open for guests on Dec. 16, according to a statement from the property.

“All residents of the South Caicos community and staff at Sailrock Resort are safe and in good spirits following the storms, and are looking forward to welcoming travelers back to the island for the busy winter travel season,’ the resort said in a statement.

Damage was mostly “cosmetic and grounds-related damage,” according to the property.

“From the first time I visited South Caicos 13 years ago, I instantly recognized what a spirited, beautiful place is it,” said Colin Kihnke, president and director of Sailrock Development Limited. “Our commitment to Sailrock Resort and our passion for the island of South Caicos remains steadfast, and we look forward to continuing to be a part of this great country.”

Sailrock is the first major resort on the island, among the frontier destinations in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
