By the Caribbean Journal staff

The Fort Young hotel in Roseau, Dominica is planning to partially reopen in January, the property announced this week.

The Fort Young, which is the largest hotel in Dominica, will open 41 of its 72 rooms on Jan. 15, 2018.

Many of the property’s core amenities, including the pool, Warner’s Bar and one of its meeting facilities are expected to be operational.

“We’re committed to accommodating relief workers, rebuilding this iconic hotel and bringing back visitors to this special island,” said Marvlyn James, Fort Young’s general manager. “Tourists are the seeds that are needed to restore Dominica to its natural grandeur and help it blossom once again.”

Dominica was hit hard by Hurricane Maria in September.
