By the Caribbean Journal staff

Florida’s Port Canaveral just set a new record for cruise passenger movements, the port announced in a statement this week.

Port Canaveral has logged 4.5 million cruise passenger movements so far in 2017, already outpacing numbers set last year.

There were a total of 4.52 million cruise passengers in fiscal year 2017, up 6.4 percent from the period from Oct 1, 2016 through Sept. 30, 2017.

Multi-day passengers totaled 4.23 million in the fiscal year, a 7.1 percent increase over last year’s all-time high.

Port Canaveral is the second-busiest cruise port in the world, hosting cruise lines including Carnival Cruise Line, Disney Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean International for cruises focused on the wider Caribbean region.
