JetBlue Traffic Rebounds After Hurricanes

By the Caribbean Journal staff

JetBlue Airways traffic rebounded in October after a sluggish September that was the result of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, which impacted JetBlue’s large route network in the Caribbean.

The New York City-based carrier saw a 3.7 percent increase in revenue passenger miles, with 3.7 billion, up from 3.57 billion in October 2016.

Available seat miles rose by 6.8 percent to 4.5 billion, up from 4.21 billion in the same period last year.

Load factor saw a 2.4 percentage point decline, however, to 82.4 percent.

JetBlue said the hurricanes had a negative impact on revenue per available seat mile growth of between one and two percentage points for the fourth quarter, according to company projections.
