St Kitts Airport Reopens After Hurricane Maria

By the Caribbean Journal staff

St Kitts’ Robert L Bradshaw International Airport reopened on Wednesday after the passage of Hurricane Maria, according to tourism officials.

The eye of Maria passed about 90 miles south of St Kitts on Tuesday; rapid assessment teams are being deployed around the island to determine the extent of the “disruption” caused by the storm.

Essential services are up and operating, however, and all storm watches have been discontinued.

The airport reopened on Wednesday morning, with American Airlines’ nonstop flight from Miami operating on schedule.

British Airways canceled its London Gatwick flight on Wednesday, but that flight will be operating on Thursday.
