Winair Cancels All Flights Due to Irma

Regional carrier Winair has canceled all of its flights on Tuesday Sept. 5 and Wednesday Sept. 6 due to the imminent passing of Hurricane Irma in the northeastern Caribbean.

The company said it hoped to restart “limited services” on Thursday, depending on post-Irma conditions.

Winair also said it would be relocating its Twin Otter aircraft to a “more secure and safe area in the Southern Caribbean,” citing the unpredictability of the storm.

The company said customers were being contacted for re-accommodation and that they would be re-booked at no additional cost.

“Our operational restart of the Twin Otter flights to destinations Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Barth, Canefield – Dominica, Antigua, Tortola, St. Kitts and Nevis, in addition to our flights to Douglas-Charles – Dominica, Guadeloupe, San Juan, Curacao and Haiti will resume once it is safe to do so,” Winair said in a statement.
