The Dominican Republic mountain town of Jarabacoa is home to a brand-new eco-boutique.
It’s called Hotel Carmen, and it’s the newest property by ecotourism hotel collection Hostales de Montaña.
The property consists of 16 mountain-style wooden huts, with a total of 24 rooms.
Set on the outskirts of the Jarabacoa Country Club, Hotel Carmen will offer guests access to the facilities of the club, including a restaurant, a swimming pool, tennis, movies, horseback riding, hiking and more.
It’s a great jumping off point for discovering another side of the Dominican Republic, raw, lush and hilly.
Indeed, Jarabacoa is close to the best access point for hiking Pico Duarte, the tallest mountain in the Caribbean at 10,164 feet.
