Barbados’ Fairmont Royal Pavilion resort is set to undergo a major renovation, the property announced this week.

The project is designed to “significantly enhance the facilities of the hotel and provide a comfortable and luxurious experience for future guests,” the company said in a release.

The hotel lobby and all 72 guest rooms and suites will be “completely transformed,” with a planned completion date of Nov. 15, 2017.

That will be followed by a restaurant renovation in summer 2018.

International design agency Richmond International has been tapped to oversee the design concept.

“This is an exciting time for Fairmont Royal Pavilion, as we celebrate the commencement of a project which will re-invigorate our elegant, beachfront resort with luxurious new finishes and style inspired by the natural beauty of Barbados,” said Francesca Barba, Director of Sales & Marketing at the Fairmont.

The hotel will remain open through Sept. 28, with renovation during these dates “phased thoughtfully to ensure minimal disruption to the hotel’s valued guests.”

The property will then be closed from late September to mid-November.

“It was an extremely difficult decision to close the hotel temporarily. We chose to execute the work over as short a period of time as possible to minimize the impact on the hotel operations and our ability to effectively and positively serve our guests,” said Tim Morrison, General Manager.
