St. Kitts has embarked on a series of upgrades both to its airport and ferry terminal.

The biggest change to the airport will be the addition of air-conditioning units at the check-in and customs areas, a process that is almost completed, according to Public Infrastructure Minister Ian Liburd.

“We’re also considering the CUTE system – the Common Use Terminal Equipment – for the check-in as well to make it more efficient,” Liburd said in a government release.

The $850,000 project is slated to be completed at the end of this month.

The government is also upgrading its ferry terminal, to ensure that passengers between St. Kitts and Nevis would wait for their ferries in an environment of comfort and safety,” Liburd said, with air conditioning and improved bathroom facilities, among other changes.

That project is being undertaken at a cost of around $250,000.
