Playa Hotels and Resorts has closed on the acquisition of the site for a pair of new all inclusive Hyatt resorts in the Dominican Republic.
Playa will be opening the new Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana and Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana in the exclusive enclave of greater Punta Cana.
Playa Resorts Management, the operational component of Playa Hotels & Resorts, manages Hyatt Hotels Corporation’s all inclusive properties.
The Zilara property is adults only, while the Ziva is family-friendly.
The resorts will combine in a 750-room resort complex on a 40-acre beachfront site.
“Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana and Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana mark the next step in Playa’s long-term strategy to expand our resorts throughout the Caribbean,” said Bruce Wardinski, Chairman and CEO of Playa Hotels & Resorts. “Our expansion into Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic accomplishes what has been a long-term goal and complements both our growing portfolio and consumer demand.”
Dominican Republic President Danilo Medina led a ceremony to mark the acquisition and present the project this week.
There are four existing Hyatt all inclusive properties in the Caribbean: two in Montego Bay and two in Cancun.
