Southwest’s Latest Traffic Jump

Southwest Airlines continued its solid 2017 with 4.6 percent jump in passengers carried in June, according to the latest numbers from the company.

Southwest reported a total of 11.62 million passengers last month, up from 11.1 million in June 2016, while revenue passenger miles grew by 3.7 percent to 11.91 billion, up from 11.49 billion last June.

Southwest unveiled a wave of new flights to the Caribbean at the beginning of last month, largely out of its stronghold in Fort Lauderdale.

For the year, Southwest’s revenue passengers carried total is up 4.2 percent, while RPM is up 4.3 percent.
