American Airlines: Latin America, Caribbean Show Traffic Growth

American Airlines is seeing renewed growth in Latin America and Caribbean traffic, according to the company’s latest traffic results.

Revenue passenger miles to Latin America and the Caribbean totaled 2.454 billion in May, a 1.6 percent improvement over May 2016 and the strongest year over year monthly improvement in 2017.

Available seat miles in the region grew by 4.7 percent to 3.18 billion, while load factor declined by 2.3 percentage points to 77.2 percent.

For the year, Latin America-Caribbean traffic has declined by 3.3 percent year over year, while available seat miles have seen a 3.1 percent reduction.

Overall, American Airlines Group totaled a record 19.9 billion revenue passenger miles, a 2.6 percent improvement over May 2016.
