Nobody does carnival like the Caribbean, but the region’s world of carnivals is a diverse mix of celebrations large and small — and there’s more to it than just Trinidad’s famous fete.

That’s why it’s time to consider one of the Caribbean’s top summer carnivals: Antigua Carnival, which is now celebrating its 60th year.

This year’s celebration features 12 days of rum-filled revelry, beginning with the Old Time Carnival on July 27 and concluding with the Parade of the Bands on Aug. 8.

In between travelers can find everything from the Wadadli Beer Calypso Monarch Competition to the Calypso Classic on Aug. 1.

And when you’re not celebrating, you can find time to visit the twin-island destinations whopping 365 beaches.
