Honduras Sees Continued Tourism Growth

Honduras continues to see growth in tourist arrivals, according to the latest data from the Honduran Institute of Tourism.

The country reported 2.177 million stayover visitors last year, up 4 percent from 2.092 million in 2015.

International tourism spending reached $685.6 million USD, up from $675.6 million in the previous year.

International airlines such as Spirit Airlines, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, Avianca Airlines and United Airlines are among those serving Honduras, offering non-stop flights from Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Houston, Atlanta along with other major cities, while the Honduran city of San Pedro Sula began receiving Air Europa flights from Madrid at the end of April.

On the cruise side, Honduras saw a 14.7 percent increase in passenger arrivals last year, with a total of 1.052 million cruise passengers arriving in 2016 on 341 ships.
