Curaçao Sees Occupancy Jump

By: - May 2nd, 2017

Bucking the recent trend in the Caribbean, the Dutch Caribbean island of Curaçao has shown a jump in hotel occupancy.

The island’s hotels posted 76.9 percent occupancy in March, a 3.7 percentage-point increase over the same period in 2016.

The island also showed a 1.2 percent increase in average daily rate, to $167.28, while RevPar, or revenue per available room, increased by 6.3 percent to $128.64 in the same period.

The data comes from leading hotel analytics firm STR, which surveyed 12 properties comprising 1,969 rooms on the island of Curaçao.

That comes as the Caribbean has seen continued decline in hotel occupancy for much of the last calendar year.
