WestJet Just Broke a Traffic Record

Canadian leisure carrier WestJet is reporting a major surge in traffic, according to the company’s latest data.

WestJet’s revenue passenger miles grew by 8.7 percent in March, with a total of 2.252 billion revenue passenger miles compared to 2.072 in March 2016.

Available seat miles rose 7.4 percent to 2.676 billion.

WestJet also flew a record 5.7 million guests in the first quarter, showing a 6.8 percent overall increase in the first three months of 2017.

“We continue to be pleased with our strong traffic growth as a record number of guests chose to fly with us in the first quarter,” said WestJet President and CEO Gregg Saretsky. “My thanks go out to all WestJetters for their dedication to providing our growing number of guests with a safe and remarkable travel experience.”
