$110 Million Excellence Oyster Bay Breaks Ground in Jamaica

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - March 31, 2017

A major new resort project has broken ground in Jamaica.

All-inclusive brand Excellence Group Luxury Hotels and Resorts has broken ground on the Excellence Oyster Bay adults-only resort.

The $110 million project is slated to debut in the first half of 2018 as Montego Bay’s latest adults-only property.

Set on a private peninsula, the oceanfront resort will include 325 suites, including 800-square-foot junior suites and 2,000-square-foot upper suites featuring large living spaces, panoramic ocean views and direct beach access.

The hotel will also include eight restaurants and seven bars, from sports bars to martini lounges.

“We are excited to create a unique, world-class destination for Montego Bay Jamaica and its community, thereby, laying foundations for new opportunities for Jamaica and its people,” said Monserrate Amengual, co-CEO of the Excellence Group. “Oyster Bay is a visionary resort designed to provide exceptional experiences in travel, hospitality, and luxury service.

Amengual said the property would employ a staff of 700 Jamaicans upon completion, along with 1,500 jobs during construction.

“Oyster Bay will further position Jamaica as one of the world’s leading travel destinations while creating jobs, increasing tourism, and providing overall economic growth,” he said.

Excellence owns and manages resort properties in the Dominican Republic and Mexico under three brands: Excellence, Beloved and Finest.
