Southwest Airlines traffic continued to climb in January, according to the carrier’s latest monthly data report.
The company flew 9.4 billion revenue passenger miles in January, up 4.6 percent from the 8.9 billion revenue passenger miles Southwest flew in January 2016.
Available seat miles jumped by 6.2 percent to 12.3 billion, while load factor was 76.3 percent, a decline of 1.2 percentage points from January 2016.
Southwest has been on a major expansion push in the Caribbean region, launching a number of new flights particularly out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
