A group of beaches in the Dominican Republic are the latest to receive Blue Flag certification.
The three main beaches in the destination of La Romana have received the title: Dominicus, Bayahibe and Minitas, with the designation including the Casa de Campo resort for the first time.
The Blue Flag program is operated under the auspices of the Foundation for Environmental Education and is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, and requires certified places to meet and sustain a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety and access standards.
