After a layoff of more than 15 months, golf superstar Tiger Woods is finally making his return to professional golf: in the Bahamas.
It’s a boon for Bahamas and the Albany golf course in New Providence, home to the luxury development in which Woods was an early investor.

Albany will be playing host this weekend to the PGA’s Hero World Challenge, a tournament with an 18-man field and no cut, which will be Woods’ first tournament since August 2015.
While it’s been three years since his last victory, the World Golf Championship-Bridgestone Invitational in 2013, all eyes will be on the legendary golfer, who says he’s finally back to competition-ready golf.
It’s also a boon for the Bahamas, which has been not-too-quietly carving out a niche as the sports tourism capital of the Caribbean, from golf events like this (and LPGA and celebrity tournaments) to the now-entrenched Battle for Atlantis NCAA tournament and even a college football bowl game.

Albany, set on 600 acres on the ocean in New Provdience, was founded by billionaire investor Joe Lewis along with Woods and fellow golfing great Ernie Els.
It’s a combination residential and golf course community, with ultra-luxe hotel-style accommodations as well, from private villas and rentals to stays to a megayacht marina and a spa.
