Fast-expanding JetBlue Airways has added its newest route to the Caribbean.

The carrier has officially begun nonstop service from New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport to Barbados’ Grantley Adams International Airport.

The new flight will be operating once weekly on Saturdays, giving travelers in the tri-state area another option to get to one of the Caribbean’s most luxurious destinations.

“We are delighted to be adding another direct flight to our portfolio,” said Petra Roach, BTMI’s U.S. Director.

The new route is the latest boost for Barbados’ tourism sector, which has seen an 11.5 percent jump in arrivals this year, according to Petra Roach, U.S. Director for Barbados Tourism Marketing.

That represented a total of 135,311 visitors compared to 121,401 visitor arrivals in 2015.

“It further proves that Barbados is a favored destination among U.S travelers,” Roach said.

The Newark-Barbados flights will depart Newark at 9:37 AM, with the return flight leaving Barbados at 4:25 PM.
