This Canadian Carrier’s Traffic Keeps on Growing Fast

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - October 17, 2016

Canadian carrier WestJet is seeing a major traffic surge, according to the company’s recently-released data.

The company reported 1.89 billion revenue passenger miles in September, which represented a 16.3 percent increase in traffic over the same month in 2015.

Available seat miles rose by 12.6 percent to 2.36 billion, while load factor reached 79.9 percent.

The latter helped WestJet report a record load factor in the third quarter, during which it flew 5.9 million guests, also a record.

“We are pleased with our fifth consecutive month of double-digit traffic growth, as we achieved our second highest load factor for a third quarter at 84.0 per cent and flew a record 5.9 million guests,” said WestJet President and CEO Gregg Saretsky. “As we transition through our shoulder period into the busy winter season, I want to thank our almost 12,000 WestJetters for their commitment to providing our brand of friendly caring service.”

WestJet has been increasing its Caribbean network, too, most recently launching new flights to Belize.
