A Special Suite at the Dominican Republic’s Peninsula House

Peninsula House

It’s one of the best-kept secrets in the Dominican Republic: the boutique Peninsula House hotel in the village of Las Terrenas on the Samana peninsula.

It’s got just six suites, along with a French restaurant, a multimillion-dollar art display and sweeping views of Coson Beach, where the hotel also operates a beach club and restaurant.

And this is one of the most popular suites: the Black and White Room.

It features two ivory-inlaid 19th-century Indian cupboards, along with several paintings by one of the property’s owners (see if you notice the resemblance to Rothko).

It’s a jewel of a suite, overlooking Punta Bonita and the Bay of Coson.

It’s another great reason to make the trip to Samana.
