Pawa Launches New Flights Between Santo Domingo, Port-au-Prince

Pawa

Fast-growing Dominican Republic air carrier Pawa has launched its first-ever flights to Haiti.

The Dominican flag carrier has begun operating flights between Santo Domingo and Port-au-Prince four times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with flights costing around $300 round trip, according to the company’s Web site.

In a statement, Haiti’s Ministry of Tourism said the new flights were a “step towards a multi-destination strategy” and an “important lever to consolidate the tourism sector of Haiti at the level of the Caribbean.”

The hope is that travelers will begin booking trips that include stops in both Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Pawa is short for Pan American World Airways.
