Dominican Republic Still Leads Caribbean Hotel Pipeline

The Dominican Republic continues to lead the Caribbean hotel construction pipeline, according to the latest report from analytics firm STR.

The country has 1,512 rooms in construction spread across six hotels. That’s followed in the wider Caribbean region by Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula, which has 1,497 rooms in construction across eight hotels.

Overall, the wider Caribbean/Mexico region reported 12,960 rooms in 80 projects in construction last month, a 3.1 percent decrease year over year.

Overall, there are 28,417 rooms in 174 projects in the regional pipeline in the under contract phase, down 2.4 percent year over year.
