Carnival Corporation has signed an addendum to its terminal agreement at Port Everglades in Florida, the company announced.
The deal extends the cruise company’s contract at the port through 2030 with an additional five years of sailings.
Carnival had previously signed a 15-year agreement in 2010 at Port Everglades, which has more than 3.6 million multi-day cruise passengers every year.
As part of the extension, Carnival will have preferential use of Cruise Terminal 4 at the port, which reopened last year after $24 million in renovations.
The port is also in the midst of a $13.6 million slip extension project at Terminal 4, slated for completion by the middle of next year.
“Carnival Corporation is a critical Port Everglades partner, and its many unique cruise line brands offer guests sailing into and out of our port with a wide variety of cruise experiences and itineraries,” said Steve Cernak, chief executive and port director of Port Everglades. “Carnival Corporation has a strong, long-standing presence in the Broward County community, and the additional five years included in the agreement reinforces that commitment. We look forward to welcoming the newest member of Holland America Line’s fleet, ms Koningsdam, to our sunny shores in November.”
Carnival also said it would be adding a second ship from its Carnival Cruise Line brand, Carnival Splendor, to sail from the port in the 2017 summer season.
Six more of the company’s 10 global cruise lines currently carry around 1.5 million passengers to and from the port each year, including Holland America Line, Costa Cruises, Cunard Line, P&O Cruises UK, Princess Cruises and Seabourn.
