Usain Bolt Wins Gold in Rio, Makes History

By: - August 14th, 2016

The world’s greatest sprinter made history — again.

Jamaica’s Usain Bolt took home the Olympic gold medal in the Men’s 100M race in Rio, besting the United States’ Justin Gatlin with a time of 9.81 seconds.

Canada’s Andre De Grasse finished third in 9.91 seconds.

Bolt is now the only sprinter to ever win the 100M race three times, having won the race in Rio, London and Beijing, respectively.

“Jamaica this for you my people,” Bolt said on Facebook following the win.

The gold was Bolt’s seventh career Olympic gold medal.

Bolt’s next race will be the Mens’ 200M, which will begin qualifying on Tuesday.

Bolt has previously said he will not be participating in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
