July’s winding down and August will be here before you know it. And August is National Rum Month, which means we all have an official excuse to indulge for the next four weeks in any and all things related to the golden Caribbean spirit.

So, although we’ve still got a few days left, why not practice your rum drink making skills this weekend? That way, when Monday, August 1 rolls around, you’re primed and ready to go.

We suggest you start by mixing up a batch of Antigua Smile, one of the signature cocktails from the island’s distinguished all-inclusive resort, Curtain Bluff. They serve the potent potable poolside or at the beachfront Seagrape restaurant. But we’re sure that wherever you sip it, it’ll bring a smile.

Curtain Bluff’s Antigua Smile

Ingredients

1½ ounces dark rum

1 ounce crème de banana

1½ ounces pineapple juice

½ ounce sour mix

Shake all ingredients together with crushed ice. Pour into a tumbler, and garnish with a pineapple and mango wedge.
