Cancun Airport Continues Passenger Growth

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - July 25, 2016

Cancun International Airport continues to show strong passenger growth, according to the latest numbers from the country’s government.

The Mexican Caribbean’s major airport reported a total of 10.78 million total passenger arrivals and departures in the first half of 2016, a 7.76 percent increase compared to the first six months of 2015.

Of that total, about 2.99 million passengers were domestic travelers in Mexico, an increase of 11.33 percent.

International traffic rose by 6.46 percent in the period.

“The growth in the number of passengers reflects the success of our tourist destination,” said Eduardo Rivadeneyra, head of public relations at Cancun International Airport. “We are working to get more visitors and ensure the best possible experience passing through the airport.”
