How Dominican Republic Tourism Performed in the First Half
The Dominican Republic had a strong first half for tourism, according to the latest numbers from the country’s Central Bank.
The Caribbean’s most popular tourism destination in terms of total stayover visitors showed a 6.4 percent increase in stayover arrivals compared to the first six months of 2015.
That was slightly slower growth than 2015, however, when the Dominican Republic reported 8.3 percent growth in tourism, and the first quarter of this year, when the DR reported an 8 percent increase.
The country has projected a total of 6 million stayover visitors this year.
The United States was easily the largest source market for the destination, making up 61.4 percent of all non-resident tourists to the country in the period.
